She’s really erupted on to the scene. Dear Ms. Hilson has climbed the charts proving that she is worth paying some attention to.

She’s not stopping the slow jam train with a new one called Heart Attack. Keri croons about falling in love in a modern day instrumental. Definitely something worth dedicating to your boo.

I thought I would follow up on my last Keri Hilson post with a formal review of the her album.

It’s no suprise from an artist to release an album that includes everything to appeal to everyone. It works well for some and for others it really dampens their debut. In A Perfect World does a good job balancing both club beats and slow jams. The album leans more towards the upbeat portion of the rnb spectrum. I can’t really say her slow jams are truly slow in nature but they all have a similar musical composition to go with the urban swagger album vibe.

I think this album will be a good debut for Keri. Backed by Kanye, Timbaland, Keyshia Cole to name a few, she’ll do well commercially. You slow jam lovers will be disappointed as her album realistically only contains maybe 3 slow jams.  Alienated is a heavy synth track about getting back together with the love she lost while Tell Him The Truth expresses how difficult it is to tell someone the truth on a hollow beat track.

I do enjoy my share of club tracks and this album does deliver. Return The Favour is crazy and has Timbaland’s signature euro sound while Energy provides an uplifting track to push the album into the dance area.

Keri Hilson – Tell Him The Truth

Keri Hilson is making her debut with In A Perfect World on March 24th. Its been a long time coming for this new star as she’s been in the background for almost a decade writing songs for Britney Spears, Ciara and Ludacris to name a few. You’ll recognize her guest appearences on Timbaland’s The Way I Are and Diddy’s After Love tracks.

After previewing the album, Make Love is one of the slow jam highlights to come out of her debut. A good effort and does anyone else think this song reminds you of Christmas? Go check her official site or her MySpace page out for more info.
