True Beauty – Episode 7 (Finale)

And the day had to arrive. That’s right. The season finale of True Beauty.

The final three, Billy, Joel and Julia were faced with a naked photoshoot as their last challenge. Billy and Joel breezed through, as expected, while Julia’s conservative background hindered her shoot.

Well, maybe not that much because she shot a pretty good photo being dipped in oil and everything. Like really? Who would say no to that?

In the end, and very much under the radar, Julia won the competition and did so by passing all of the ‘tests’.

Judges – how could she not win? With that squicky clean personality and natural good looks there was probably no questions going into this episode that she would win. Joel can be too much of an ass and Billy is just fake.

Pretty anti-climatic finale but a guilty pleasure to pass the time. I was excited in the beginning to watch this show with Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks names attached. They could have done many things better but I don’t think they cared after the 3rd episode.

This reality show was a safe ride for the network. Nothing really new to offer and probably pulled in some decent ratings. Let’s hope, if there is another one, they’ll pull in more tricks.

Good bye True Beauty and check out Julia’s winning speech.

True Beauty – Episode 7

Tru Beauty Cast

Awesome! Laura got kicked off. Can’t believe it took that long. I don’t even think she took the competition seriously, but I wouldn’t really either considering the “challenges” they were facing.

Speaking of challenges, we sat down to watch the remaining contestants attend a red carpet event to see who could ‘mingle’ the best. With every episode there’s gotta be one surprise and this week’s was the arrival of the mothers, and father, of the contestants.

A little bit of a ZzZzz action in this episode since there was nothing really out of the ordinary. No special challenges or crazy situations. Just straight up dress nice and talk to people…oh wait…Ashton Kutcher’s mom was there too but I don’t think it was necessary.

In the end, Joel and Laura were the bottom two with Billy being safe for this week. Laura got booted off obviously because she has no personality and, earlier, she leaked to the stylist that she was using Billy. Tsk tsk…Don’t these people know they are being filmed?!??! Gahhh…

Anyway, good for Laura to go home and now they are down to three. Next week is the finale so it should be a good one.

True Beauty – Episode 6

I missed last week’s episode so I won’t have much to comment on episode 6 but to have Ray kicked off is friggin’ surprising.

Really? They kept Laura? A cardboard box is more interesting than her. Granted she looks better but I guess both are useful. Cardboard boxes carry things and she carries Billy’s feelings on her sleeve.

What a tool. Anyway, here’s Ray’s partying words.

True Beauty – Episode 5

Oh goodness. Another week another episode of harsh human nature.

So is it me or is this show getting ridiculous? Wait…Don’t answer that. Maybe it was ridiculous from the start but I continue watching because I want to know who the winner is. Who is going to be that “true beauty” that will grace the cover of People magazine? Why don’t I just wait for the issue? Well, then I won’t be able to judge them on what counts the most….how crazy they acted on the show!

This week the contestants went on a hike and took natural beauty shots (videos) on the beach to promote some natural product. Sounds lame? Yeah, cause it is. I get the whole not wearing make up or anything bit but it just sounds like the producers didn’t have any innovative ideas for their contestants to do this week.

I actually don’t think Chelsea should have made it as far as she did. Not only is she unnaturally good looking but she’s kinda annoying and way too opinionated. People are allowed their 3 cents but she always seems to give away a dollar. Too bad it’s a peso which is valued at almost nothing in America.

So with Chelsea gone, the only other tool on the show would probably be Billy. Power Bar in your sock? Are you friggin serious? Hahahahaha…I am all for getting into shape and going for them protein shakes but a power bar hiding in your sock makes you a joke.

My bets now on Julia.

True Beauty – Episode 4

Tru Beauty Cast

Holy Frigg! I am going to cut to the chase and announce that the contestant I banked on got cut. Mr. CJ Miller did not succeed in the take a picture with a senior citizen challenge. I personally thought his picture was decent compared to Chelsea’s but then again I am not the photographer or a judge.

Is it me or is this show becoming a little cheese? The challenge they faced this week was okay. Nothing unique compared to other shows but the part where Vanessa came out and held the copy cat contest was just bad. I mean, it was fun but really? For a chance to look at your photos? Can your change your photo? No. Well, then what is the point in looking at it and making a big deal about it?

Billy should been booted considering how he treated his counter part in the above challenge and the previous “ugly” things he has done on the show. I don’t blame the judges though. They gave CJ two other chances and it would have looked bad for the show to bring him back the 3rd time.

The way CJ left proved to the world how good of a person he was. He left the show with a calm, cool and relaxed demeanor. They replayed his “ugly” moments and besides faking the children’s charity they had nothing else on him.

Here’s hoping they bring him back mid-season. Hahaha…

True Beauty – Episode 3

by Tru on Jan.21, 2009, under Reviews, Shows

Tru Beauty Cast

Another week another episode of a current favorite. This week we saw the group split into two teams for sport action photoshoots. Nothing new here besides the little “tests” the judges use on the group.

A make up designer (actor) was placed to see how compassionate each contestant was when she started crying on the phone. I think this is a good test and only CJ (my pick) and Julia passed.

Unfortunately, CJ’s team lost causing him and Monique to go to the “Hall of Beauty” for potential elimination. In the end, Monique was booted but man…I was sweating bricks.

I thought the part that was cheesiest was the garbage pick up test. Pretty weak test if you ask me and I am beginning to think CJ knows too well how to play this game.

True Beauty – Episode 2

by Tru on Jan.18, 2009, under Reviews, Shows

True Beauty

Here we go. The second episode of True Beauty. Missed it on Monday so I had to watch it online.

This week we see the crew hitting Melrose Ave. Segmented into teams of three, each team is given $100 cash to buy outfits for that nights challenge. Each team was rated on their resourcefulness to put together the best outfits to qualify for the next round.

So of course $100 is not going to get you anything on Melrose Ave. Majority of the teams relied on their charm and looks for shop owners to donate clothes.

Now, if this doesn’t show how our world works than I don’t know what does. Good looking people get a lot of perks especially women. Maybe this is something you already know but its proven through some footage.

OR

Maybe, it was a set up by the show.

Anyway, the team that consisted of my two picks, CJ and Ashley, performed the worst. They lied about charities and literally picked clothes off people’s back. Wow. Just…wow.

I picked too soon because Ashley ended up going home. Simply because she didn’t help the bicyclists up, donate to the charity on Madison Ave and fully went all out with the charity con to achieve success. Ridiculous. Still banking on CJ.

Looking forward to the next episode. See below for Ashley’s last words. She’s still sooo fine.

True Beauty – Episode 1

by Tru on Jan.08, 2009, under Reviews, Shows

tru-beauty-cast1

There are a couple of guilty pleasures I have in life. One of them being reality TV shows. Well…the good ones.

Which are good?

Glad you asked. Mainly the shows that display true human nature. Or the ones that show the extreme sides.

There seems to be a lot of shows on love and just too many “I wanna a job, be a top model or cook” shows. Nothing really springs out except…BAM…True Beauty.

Four men and women pitted against each other in a competition for big money and big fame. They think they have to be the best ridiculously good looking person to win the competition but they don’t know their “inner” beauty is key asĀ  well.

Sound familiar? Probably is considering it is from Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutcher who are the executive producers. Tyra has the whole Top Model formula down and with Ashton coming in you can expect some humorous scenes. Enter Ashton’s Punk’d element. That’s right. The contestants “inner” beauty will be tested with hired actors coming in playing out different situations.

The show is good for laughs to see how these ridiculously good looking and super self loved people will react in certain situations. Are they saints with the face to back it up or just pretty A*holes?

It airs on ABC Monday nights. For more info go check out http://abc.go.com/primetime/truebeauty

cj-miller

CJ Miller – My money is on this guy winning the competition. Has a look like Tyrese and is pretty deep on the show.

ashley-michaelson

Ashley Michaelson – Mix of Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron and 5 gallons of hotness juice.
